Inspired by the Chinese legend of The Great Race, my series reimagines the Zodiac for the modern era. Rather than animals competing for a place in the calendar, the Zodiac are a powerful agency made up of thirteen members, each representing an animal, including the Cat.Every member possesses a Zodiac Charm that grants abilities based on their animal's traits and mythology. United by a shared duty, they work together to protect the world from supernatural threats while upholding the legacy of the ancient Zodiac.
⋆.˚✮ glossary ✮˚.⋆
zodiac charms
Zodiac Charms are ancient magical artifacts, each tied to one of the Zodiac animals. When bonded to a chosen holder, a charm grants abilities inspired by the traits and powers of its respective animal.
warlocks
Warlocks are hybrids born from a human and a demon, inheriting their demon parent's abilities while often resembling their human parent. Most possess a distinctive animal-like trait, such as horns, wings, or feline eyes, which can be hidden through magical glamour. Known for their pride and independence, they strongly dislike being mistaken for witches.
vampires
Vampires are humans transformed through vampirism. The condition occurs when a vampire bites a human and then drinks their sire's blood, creating a permanent bond between them. Vampires tend to be exclusive and territorial, often distrusting those outside their circles.
werewolves
Werewolves are humans afflicted by a demonic disease, typically spread through bites or scratches from another werewolf, though it can also be inherited before birth. Fiercely loyal and protective, they place great importance on family, friendship, and pack bonds.
witches
Witches are humans who dedicate themselves to the study and practice of magic, rituals, and spellcraft. They commonly belong to covens and value their close-knit communities. Many witches take offence at being confused with warlocks, whom they view as fundamentally different.
seelies
Seelies are hybrids born from angels and demons. Recognisable by their pointed ears and calm demeanour, they possess powerful magic closely tied to nature. Unable to tell direct lies, they often rely on careful wording and half-truths.
